Indications
Terbutaline sulfate injection is used for the prevention and reversal of bronchospasm in patients 12 years of age and older with asthma and reversible bronchospasm due to bronchitis and emphysema.
Contraindications
Terbutaline sulfate injection should not be administered to patients known to be hypersensitive to sympathomimetic amines or any constituent of this drug.
Dosage and Administration
Use vials only for subcutaneous administration and not intravenous infusion.
Use the vials according to the recommendation by your doctor. Throw away unused portion after single patient use. The standard subcutaneous dose of this injection is 0.25 mg injected into the lateral deltoid area. If the patient shows no major clinical improvement within 15 to 30 minutes, a second dose of 0.25 mg may be provided. If the patient does not respond accordingly within another 15 to 30 minutes, the patient can be considered for use of other therapeutic measures. The whole dose within 4 hours should not surpass 0.5 mg.
Check parenteral drug products visually for existence of particulate matter and discoloration before use, whenever solution and container permit. If exists do not use them.
Terbutaline Sulfate Injection USP; 1 mg/mL, is supplied at a volume of 1 mL comprised in a 2 mL amber glass vial.
